health & safety
health & safety are paramount
Our Risk Management Team collaborates closely with our sister organization, Carpe Diem Education, and our expert partners in the Cornerstone Safety Group, to implement rigorous risk management, medical, and mental health prevention, and response strategies.
We hire incredible staff and facilitate the smartest training in the industry so that each staff member is prepared to meet the needs of our students. From physical health to mental well-being, we have multiple layers of support and precaution all aimed at creating the best fun and educational environments for our participants.
how we support student safety
Below are some of the ways we support our students, staff, and partners:Â
Highly skilled leadership
Our leaders have extensive travel and leadership experience. If a student requires a doctor visit, a leader will accompany them and ask all the relevant questions to receive the best possible care. Our program leaders are also highly skilled and prepared to make critical medical and evacuation decisions in remote locations.
in-country expertise
We’ve built a vast network of in-country partnerships. Often leaders in their respective communities, these contacts have the most current information with regards to matters of health and security. From the process of planning itineraries, to on-the-ground support, our partners provide guidance in accordance with their local expertise and knowledge.Â
emergency response & risk management
We’ve skillfully orchestrated international education experiences for over 120 groups and 1500 students. Our commitment to best industry practices enables us to navigate the complexities of international travel seamlessly. Global Routes has implemented robust risk management policies and procedures, ensuring swift and skilled responses to on-the-ground emergencies.
bi-annual safety reviews
Our Program Directors stay updated with world and regional events through various news sources, including reports from the Overseas Safety Advisory Council (OSAC). Twice per year, our Program Directors do a thorough review of safety reports and make recommendations and adjustments to itineraries as needed.
inext travel insurance
All students are enrolled in iNEXT insurance, which enables access to medical assistance 24-hours per day, 7 days a week. These health professionals provide consultations in case of medical emergencies, and can access a vast database that includes information about local hospitals, nearest available care, and concerns specific to the region.
