Global Routes is a pioneer in the field of experiential international education. We have led over 10,000 students on immersive and transformative experiences abroad since 1967. Our primary mission is to facilitate cross-cultural exchange and understanding.
In addition to offering 4-5 week open-enrollment summer programs for high-school students, we also love working with schools, camps, and groups to design and develop custom programs and courses.
“Each year, students return from their Global Routes service immersion program with a thirst to travel, a broadened view of the world, and a new perspective on what really matters to them.”– Marta, Custom Program Partner
Each Custom Program we design is unique and built from scratch. We can tailor any program to meet the unique interests, goals, dates, destinations, and budgets of our partners.
Our experienced staff offer expertise in program development and group facilitation to support you in building your ideal program from conceptualization to implementation.
“All of the teenagers we have sent with Global Routes have walked away with valuable life lessons on communication, resilience, leadership, and teamwork.” – Gary, Custom Program Partner
Curious what your custom program could look like? Share your goals, and we’ll send a proposal your way!
The first step is to fill out our brief custom program interest form so that we can get a sense of your goals, timeline, and budget. Upon receipt, we’ll reach out if we have any questions and begin working on a draft proposal. Once the basics are decided, we’ll work with you to plan a rich and diverse set of activities, locations, and experiences! Our team can handle all pre-trip preparation — from organizing in-country logistics to booking international travel.
Global Routes can customize almost any destination for your group. Typically, we start with locations where we have long-established programs and dedicated in-country staff. Given our 50-plus years in the field, we have deep relationships across the US, Central and South America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa.
We can support individuals and/or groups with developing summer programs, alternative winter or spring break trips, Gap Year programs, and more. From our programs, many groups seek:
Global Routes handles all aspects of program development and logistics, including: program itineraries, activities and budget, reservations for all accommodations, meals, international and in-country travel, the selection, preparation and oversight of the host community service projects and living arrangements, and organization of all other program components, including recreational, adventure, and cultural activities.
A lead staff member works closely with our partners throughout the planning process and will select the best field instructor to lead the program, create a communications plan to support the program in the field, and provide ongoing field support 24-hours a day.
We finalize the program itinerary, activities, and budget; make reservations for all accommodations, meals, international and in-country travel; select, prepare, and oversee the host community service projects and living arrangements; organize all other program components, including recreational and cultural activities.
For teachers, directors, managers, and organizers, working with Global Routes to create a custom program has been the difference between a long-envisioned dream and reality. You can share your goals for programming on this form and we’ll get back to you with a proposal.
