Greetings families,

The last couple of days of LIA have been truly special. Our stay in Pueblo Nuevo ended on Sunday, after a farewell party at Jonah and Miles’ house the night before. We sang songs, listened to music, had tons of food, and shared letters we wrote to each of our host families.

On Sunday Morning, after a bitter-sweet goodbye, we started for Uvita, a small beach town a couple hours away. Upon arrival, we made a quick stop in the town to shop for some essentials and souvenirs before settling into our hotel. We used the pools and had a delicious Argentine lunch. In the evening, we went to the beach to watch the sunset, followed by a pizza dinner and an early night in our bunks.

The first morning in Uvita was exciting! We got up early in the morning and set off on a walk into the National Park near us. After a beautiful walk through the trees, we got to a clearing in which we sat down, had lunch, got in the ocean, and spent time in the warm river. Later in the day, we had our long awaited surf lessons, which we an incredible success. Thy were an unanimous group highlight of the trip.

The third day of our stay was spent far from the hotel, white water rafting down long, winding rapids. We came back exhausted and hung out as a group fro the rest of the afternoon, reminiscing on old memories. Before our final dinner, we decided to take a trip to the beach, which for some students resulted in a spontaneous, fully-clothed swim!

During our ‘Final Banquet,” we shared some of our favorite memories together and ended the night with some karaoke, which gave the night a more emotional twist than expected.

We had plans to wake up at around 4 AM on our last morning here to go see the sunrise together. However, not one of us woke up on time. Later on in the morning, with some regret, but well rested, we finished packing and spend one final morning at the beach. Before lunch, we went souvenir shopping, and then set off on our long van ride to our hotel in San Jose.

Tonight is the final night of our trip, culminating in our dinner and some reflective activities. This trip has been an unforgettable experience. We have been pushed out of our comfort zones, practiced being pushed, and bonded as a group. See you soon!
