Dear Friends and Family,

Since we last updated you, a lot has happened. As a group, we all visited an animal shelter and got to interact and learn about the puppies and kittens, while we enjoyed our snow cones. Later that day we all gathered to celebrate Ciaran’s 16th! His host family was kind and treated us to a cake.

On Friday, we had off from our service project and friendship camp to experience Scouts Day. During this day, we participated in many activities, such as knot tying, bracelet making, and water slides. It was a great opportunity to bond with the community of Pueblo Nuevo and spend time with some members of Friendship Camp. Speaking of friendship camp, it started off rocky, but together we have made tweaks to further improve.

To transition us to the second week of our time in the community, we went on a weekend excursion to Manuel Antonio. After an early morning bus rise and a fun trip to Walmart, we arrived at the animal sanctuary. We got to learn and see many animals, such as Moca the Sloth, Julietta the Parrot, and Coco the Monkey. After a delicious lunch, we arrived at our Airbnb and settled in. We all went night swimming in the pool and had a delicious dinner of lasagna and salad.

After a restful night, we drove off to the beach and had a day of fun in the sun! Once we all had lunch, we drove back to our homestays. Now we are rested and ready for the upcoming week.

From Sofia and Phoebe
