Our First Luau!

2023-hi-celebration
Since our groups last blog we had to say goodbye to our campsite and friends in Miloli’i. We moved to a Hip Camp campsite in Southpoint for our last camping nights.

Before leaving we helped set up a lua in Miloli’i and then were invited to it. We had a great time and spent memorable moments with our new friends there. We also got some down time and showers.

What were the highlights of the week?

On Saturday we got to go to our first luau and were culturally immersed in their culture. We danced and watch a graduate from their town and others hula dance. We ate authentic Hawaiian food. A favorite was the lao lao and chicken. We talked and laughed with all the people we had made connections with and had a really good final night in Miloli’i.

What’s something that was challenging this week?

This week the group was challenged by moving around a lot, but it was still fun driving in the car and singing along with all of the music.

With a mix of getting to know the locals and playing more soccer in our free time.
