Aloha from your Hawai’i Program Leaders

Kate, Chloe, Genoa Hawai'i Program Leaders
Meet the 2023 Hawai’i Program Leaders: Kate, Chloe, and Genoa! Here, they share a message with their Hawai’i travelers and their families!

Aloha to our lovely Hawai’i group and all who will be following and supporting us on this journey!

We are so excited to be writing this introductory blog tho introduce ourselves. Although the students will be taking on the majority of sharing our experience here, you will be hearing from us periodically too.

So, who are we?!

We are Genoa, Chloe, and Kate, the Global Routes Overseas Educators who will be helping to navigate exciting, unfamiliar, and beautiful Hawai’i. Here at Global Routes Headquarters, we are in preparation for all that is to come. So many things to think about and be excited for: mountains, volcanos, jungle, beaches. We are excited for cooking together, service projects, roadtrips, laughter, camping.

At the center of our excitement is the core focus of our time together: people. We could not be more excited to meet you, get to know you, and grow together as humans. Additionally, we are grateful for and so excited to meet the many Hawaiians who will teach us about Hawaii and guide us in understanding the people that have called Hawai’i home for over 1700 years.

As we think about all these different experiences we’ll have, and all the different material things to pack in our bags in order to best prepare for those experiences, we are also packing our metaphorical bags full of curiosity, joyful anticipation, and gratitude.

During your final week home enjoy those day dreams of the experience to come, those last minute shoelace purchases, and precious moments with your loved ones.

We can’t wait to share this journey with you, so stay tuned for more to come!

Hola! If you’ve been following our journey in Ecuador you know we were last in Peguche. While there we hiked up a dormant volcano (Lake Cuicocha), shopped in the renowned Otavalo Market, and learned about dream catchers from one of the Homestay parents. With a mix of getting to know the locals and playing more soccer in our free time.

Final Days in Hawai’i

Since Josie’s and Anthony’s blog we have left Momi’s farm and are now camping in Miloli’i. This is the last fishing village on the Big Island and we are lucky enough to have been invited here by Ka’imi.
