Caribbean: Until Next Time, Camp Caribe!

All great things come to an end, and our students’ camp in the Caribbean is no exception. After two weeks of hard work, endless laughs, and bonding with wonderful kids, we’ve reached the final day of the LIA’s camp in St. Vincent. Our travelers will miss all of the community members and kids they’ve bonded with, and hope to keep in touch!

In addition to playing games and singing songs, our team also made good use of paint this week, and LOTS of it. They also made oobleck, which the kiddos loved! Take a look!

To celebrate the end of camp, and to kick off their post-program travel, our travelers went for a nice long hike to “Pavement,” where, they quickly found, there was just greenery to be had!

Some of our students also got a chance to document their dinner-stay this past week! Like a homestay, Global Routes’ dinner-stays involve our travelers being placed with a local family; instead of living with them, they join them for cooking, dinner, and conversation! Take a look at the delicious food that our crew whipped up with their host family last week! The dish below is called Ducuna, made from ground potatoes, sugar, cinnamon, and boiled over an open fire in a banana leaf!

Next up, our group of travelers will be exploring other parts of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, taking in new sights and sounds as they prepare for re-entry into the U.S. We’ll be sure to get pictures of their adventures up soon!

With a mix of getting to know the locals and playing more soccer in our free time.
