!Hola a todos!

After a wonderful mid-program break we headed home with their Costa Rican family and friends to celebrate Semana Santa, or the “Holy Week.” Being in highly populated Christian/Catholic communities, the celebrations are full of culture, festivities, family, and lots food! Some of us traveled to the homes of our extended relatives up in the mountains and others stayed home to welcome visiting family and friends.

My visits to the students in their communities last week were full of laughter and fun! Allie and Elana’s fourth and fifth graders are working hard to learn the “Waka Waka” by Shirka with some elaborate choreography. They have decided to make a cookbook as another project in the community. They are quite busy visiting women in the community to learn the recipes. Emily and Emma continue to teach conversational English while also working on their project to create a box of games for the school children. Blair is busy with her kindergarten group and is excited by the new arrival of her new baby brother on Saturday. We are all hoping that he can come home healthy and strong soon!

This weekend everyone chose to stay in their host communities to spend time with their families as they feel that their time here is going fast!
