We are so proud of our Tanzania group for reaching 14,980 feet as they summited Mt Meru over the weekend! What an accomplishment. The group worked together to make it through tricky terrain, windy and cold weather, and a steep climb. With each other’s support, the help of porters, guides, and cooks, the crew made it all the way together to the summit. Matt and Mary could not be more proud and impressed, the group’s care for one another and overall positive energy was above and beyond. Everyone was a true all-star for the trek.
With tough weather for the most part, the animal kingdom made up for the poor visability. The group got to see a giraffes, water buffalo, warthogs, monkeys, and baboons, not to mention a few vistas when the weather cleared!
Now back closer to earth, the group settled into the United African Alliance Community Center (UAACC) where they enjoyed a warm welcome and warm showers! Over the next two days they will play music, join in with the children playing games, learning traditional dance, and preparing for the host community, Selela.
This evening the group will be joined by Steven who is coming in from China, a bit late, but he and the group are all excited meet each other and be a complete team finally! We are hoping for some photos soon, but we will be patient until the crew finds a strong internet connection.
