Secondary Projects in Full Swing!

Hello Tanzania friends and family!  This is Rosie from the Global Routes office sharing a few thoughts conveyed by Matt from our phone check-in this morning.  Internet access is a challenge in the community and the group will be posting live from the field this coming weekend when they pass through the city of Arusha.

A few highlights in the meantime…

* As if working on the worksite during the day isn’t enough Matt and a few of the students have been enjoying some early morning runs! A beautiful, contemplative way to take in the surrounding scenery.

*Students are honing their cooking skills by alternating cooking the group lunches at the school cafeteria.  Specialties include ugali, rice and veggie dishes and other Tanzania specialties

*Students are actively teaching in the local school and they have sketched the outline of a world map mural which will decorate the side of the building

*Despite the sad news regarding the women’s world cup championship (which reached the group in Tanzania) soccer games are a regular activity along with kids in the community

The group will be heading to Mt. Meru for a mid-program adventure on Friday and we should get their IN PERSON blog post this weekend!

All the best from the office team here in Northampton, MA
