Our Costa Rica gap students are finding their feet in their host community of San Antonio! So far they are coming along well with a world map mural at the school and teaching English classes to the second- through sixth-graders.\u00a0Right now the students are working on the verb \u201cto be\u201d and practicing its usage with different household objects and rooms. The have also learned numbers and the ABCs.<\/p>\n

The weekend brought adventures such as a fishing trip to the local stream with Sarah\u2019s host brother, Steven, and a visit to a nearby swimming hole to cool off in the heat of the afternoon. In the afternoon, we\u00a0played cards with some new friends and snacked on potato soup and sugar cookies that Sarah\u2019s mom had made. On Sunday, Mariah, Jonah, and Sarah attended a soccer game that San Antonio hosted\u00a0to cheer on their new friends and\u00a0family members. In the mean time, a baby cow was born!<\/p>\n

After school on Monday, Sarah and Mariah went on a trip with their host families to a rodeo in a town nearby. They reported that it was a very exciting experience with several different events! Meanwhile, Jonah relaxed in San Antonio, and spent some time with new friends.<\/p>\n

We are getting very excited for our trip to Manuel Antonio National Park this weekend. We are hoping to see monkeys!<\/p>\n
